OMD (Out-Mold Decoration)is also known as "high pressure transfer.
After printing the pattern on the transparent film, we use high/medium/low pressure and vacuum to transfer or cover the pattern directly onto the material(e.g. plastic shell, metal, carbon glass fiber or curved glass).
That is the simple process of "film printing , high pressure transfer" to complete the "OMD product".
Water transfer printing can also be called curved surface drape transfer.
In terms of its name, it is a technology that can be used to transfer on uneven objects or surfaces to achieve a beautifying surface treatment.
It can be extensively used in decoration from entire all-terrain vehicles and car dashboards, to small items like bike helmets or other metal objects such as automotive interior trim panels, motorcycle panels, glasses, electrical appliances, plastics, ceramics, metals, etc.
The technique of Water transfer printing relatively simple; a polyvinyl alcohol hydrographic film, which has been gravure-printed with the graphic image to be transferred, is carefully placed on the water's surface in the dipping tank. The clear film is water-soluble, and dissolves after applying an activator solution. Once dipping is begun, the surface tension of the water will allow the pattern to curve around any shape. Any remaining residue is then rinsed off thoroughly. The ink adheres to the desired surface and it cannot be washed off easily. It is then allowed to dry.
